Deadline is February 24; Honors to be Presented at June 5 Dinner

New York, NY — The Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) today announced it is welcoming nominations for its 2012 Rising Stars and Corporate Commitment Awards. The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 24, 2012.

Individual and corporate award recipients will be honored for their commitment to excellence in the field of direct/interactive marketing education, specifically highlighting service that nurtures and supports the next generation of talent in this field. These honorees set the standard for leadership, generosity, and giving back to the marketing community.

The DMEF Awards Selection Committee, consisting of leaders in the field of direct/interactive marketing, will review the nominations. Close attention will be paid to the candidates’ qualifications and accomplishments as they relate to the nomination criteria. Winners will be announced in March, and honored at DMEF’s Rising Stars Awards Dinner at Gotham Hall in New York City, on June 5, 2012.

DMEF Corporate Commitment Award

DMEF’s Corporate Commitment Award honors companies that exemplify the unique and significant qualities of leadership, and consistently demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the areas of direct/interactive marketing education among new and upcoming talent. The corporate honoree must be renowned for its culture of nurturing rising talent, as well as active support and consistent participation in DMEF programs and activities that foster and promote excellence — for today and tomorrow.

Last year, DMEF presented its Corporate Commitment Award to Gerber Life Insurance. The honor, formerly known as the DMEF Corporate Leadership Award, has previously been earned by Publishers Clearing House (2010), Litle & Co. (2009), KBM Group | Wunderman (2008), Time Consumer Marketing, Inc. (2007), Bookspan (2006), Kraft (2005), and America Online (2004).

DMEF’s Rising Star Award is presented to individuals 40 years of age and younger who are recognized as up-and-coming leaders in the field of direct/interactive marketing. Winning candidates demonstrate outstanding professional achievement and commitment to giving back through furthering education and growth throughout the field. They must exhibit superior leadership and professional achievements in the online/offline space, including educational and/or charitable activities above and beyond professional ambitions. Honorees must also be recognized for their commitment to supporting or mentoring young professionals.

“Each year, I am impressed and inspired by the talent, brains, and commitment that the young leaders in this industry display,” said Richard Hochhauser, DMEF Chair. “Take a moment to review the nomination criteria. If you know someone who is 40 years of age or younger, has made their mark professionally, and is passionate about education and mentoring in the field of direct/interactive marketing — then now is the time to submit their nomination. DMEF is looking forward to inaugurating a new class of Rising Star winners, and creating another great celebration, abuzz with energy and optimism for the future of marketing.”

Last year, DMEF honored five Rising Stars: Shane Atchison, ZAAZ; Steve Froehlich, ASPCA; Avinash Kaushik, Market Motive | Google; Megan Pagliuca, Merkle; and Paull Young, charity: water.

About Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF)

Headquartered in New York City, the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) works to attract, educate, and place college students in direct/interactive marketing careers, and, thereby, expanding and enriching the talent pool of trained, market-ready marketers. Established in 1966 by members of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) who wanted to give something back to the community, DMEF is today a separate, 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that is supported solely by tax-deductible contributions from individuals and companies. Tax-deductible contributions are the lifeblood of the DMEF; funds raised support a broad range of world-class educational programs and scholarships.

Since its founding, thousands of students have taken advantage of DMEF’s educational programs, entering the field with the competitive edge of being “workplace-ready.” Many have gone on to become today’s marketing leaders, an indication of the Foundation’s success. In addition, more than 2,000 professors have participated in DMEF programs. For additional information about the DMEF, its mission, and its programs, visit www.marketingEDGE.org.
