SIXTH YEAR OF NEXT GENERATION LEADERS PROGRAM KICKS OFF

New York, NY — The Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) today announced the kickoff of the sixth year of its Next Generation Leaders Program (NextGen), an innovative, fast-track, rotational program designed to deliver the bright new marketing talent to the field. NextGen is just one of many facets used by the DMEF to expand and enrich the marketing talent pool.
Since 1966, DMEF has worked on multiple fronts to support direct/interactive marketing education at colleges and universities across the country. Now, with the continuation of the NextGen program, DMEF is in position to help recent college graduates — known as program associates — bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace.
“In the year they are in the program, our associates gain real-life and marketplace experience that would usually be obtained after several years in the workplace,” said Craig Wood, DMEF Chair and CEO/Founder of Clarity Group. “I believe this is the most cost-effective management training program for entry-level talent. Companies benefit from access to highly motivated graduates eager for a career in direct and interactive marketing.”
The Next Generation Leaders Program is a 12-month rotational program created by Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) and Direct Marketing Association (DMA). This unique program provides invaluable work experience to top graduates from leading universities, and allows them to investigate the varied and exciting careers available in direct and interactive marketing. Those accepted to the highly competitive program receive exceptional training through several assignments at top companies in the field while working alongside some of the business’ most experienced marketing professionals.
Past participants have credited the program with giving them a strong foundation on which to build their careers. “Even four years after graduating from the NextGen program, I constantly find myself referencing many of the basic skills that I learned while at the various sponsor companies,” said Franciso Alberini, Director Social Media, Adworthy, Inc. “Whether it's building PowerPoint decks, managing complex client projects, or applying basic direct marketing principles in digital marketing campaigns, I continue to be amazed at how much I learned and retained in one short year.”
