NEW YORK – July 7, 2015 – Marketing EDGE, a national nonprofit education organization, announced recipients for its two most prestigious education leadership awards:  Pamela Maphis Larrick, chief executive officer of Omnicom's Javelin Marketing Group, is the Edward N. Mayer, Jr.  Education Leadership Award honoree; and Quad/Graphics is the Corporate Leadership Award recipient.
The two honorees will be presented their awards at Marketing EDGE’s Annual Awards Dinner, taking place in Boston, MA, on Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Boston Park Plaza downtown, held in conjunction with the Direct Marketing Association’s re-engineered 2015 &THEN Conference. Each year, reports Marketing EDGE, approximately 350 marketing professionals from leading national and global marketing organizations gather to mark the occasion – the highest honor for professional leaders in data-driven marketing education.
Proceeds from the event help to fund career entry and talent development programs for thousands of students nationally, and for hundreds of academics, colleges and universities.
“This year, we have two exceptional honorees in Pam Larrick and Quad/Graphics, whose dedication to marketing education is not just exemplary, but extraordinarily so,” said Christine Aguilera, Marketing EDGE’s chair, and chief financial officer of International Cruises and Excursions, Inc. “This commitment is reflected in culture, practice and initiatives that extend far beyond their own respective companies. They are both leaders by virtue of their service-mindedness, their giving back and the energy and effect they both bring to every endeavor related to education.”
Pam Larrick | @javelinmg |, chief executive officer of Omnicom’s Javelin Marketing Group, is a proven business leader with a life-long commitment to education, innovation and learning. Pam's commitment accelerated while serving on the Marketing EDGE Board eight years ago as she expressed her support: “this steady but sleepy organization has awakened with a roar,” initiating this nonprofit organization’s emergence into the data-driven marketing age.  Throughout Pam’s career she has demonstrated her dedication through her avid support of education, including students.  In fact, her management strengths include attracting and motivating top talent and leveraging digital assets/opportunities to create or tap into unrealized opportunities.  A particular passion of Pam’s is women in leadership.  She co-founded the Women’s Leadership Network at IPG and is currently a member of OmniWomen, Omnicom’s leading women’s network.  Most recently, Javelin under Pam’s leadership this year has chosen to sponsor MAKERS, a non-profit collaboration between AOL and PBS to help advance women professionals in the U.S.  Pam explains: “Among the thousands of social causes around the world, none is bigger than the advancement of women and girls. Females are the largest economically and socially underdeveloped constituency all over the globe.  Championing progress for women inspires me every day."  For more examples of Pam’s commitment, visit her Ed Mayer Award profile here.
Described as "A Company with a Soul", Quad/Graphics was founded in 1971 by Harry V. Quadracci.  To this day, his son (Joel) and family (immediate and extended) carry on his vision:  "In 1971, we believed in a dream. We believed there must be a better way. When you dream a little, common people, working together, can do uncommon things."  The culture, ethics and beliefs are as strong today as it was on day one.  For 20 years and counting, Quad/Graphics has contributed directly to Marketing EDGE (and its predecessor DMEF) programs, reflecting its mantra, "Quad/Graphics Is An Education Company."  Quad's unending circle of Education:  “Learn, Know, Improve, Teach” is a foundational truth throughout the organization.  Quad/Graphics maintains programs in corporate training, leadership training and Quad/Education, the latter of which supports 1,000 classes taught on-the-job training or in the classroom, ranging from medical, human resources, safety, technical and wellness.  The company also offers apprenticeships, continuous improvement courses from technical to safety, and to lean enterprise training.  Tuition reimbursement is a given supporting all full-time employees to support continued education and learning.  For more information on Quad/Graphics, recipient of the 2015 Corporate Commitment Award, visit here.
