The Direct/Interactive Marketing Research Summit, provides a forum for digital, social media, database, and direct/interactive marketing topics in the areas of research and teaching. There are numerous opportunities for academics to exchange ideas and learn from their colleagues and participating practitioners. Submissions are selected based on the quality of the research, their ability to extend knowledge in the field, whether they break new ground, and whether they will influence the practice or teaching of data-driven, interactive, digital, social media or direct marketing.

The Research Summit is, in a sense, two conferences in one, because it is held in conjunction with the DMA's global industry conference, titled "&THEN," which also offers complimentary attendance to full-time academics and Ph.D. students.

    The Robert B. Clarke Outstanding Educator Award recognizes a career of teaching, speaking, and research in direct and interactive marketing.  At the Awards Luncheon and Keynote, the Shankar-Spiegel Best Dissertation Proposal, Best Case Writers, Best Paper, Journal of Interactive Marketing and the Clarke Award are among the honors bestowed.
