Biography: 

Steve is a Founder/Partner at Linen,Cone—a full service direct response agency now entering its 15th year. Prior to Steve joining it was known as Worth Linen Associates.

Prior to joining Linen,Cone, Steve was the Chief Revenue Officer at the American Bar Association. He went to the ABA after a five-year stint as Executive Vice President of AARP, one of the world’s largest membership organizations with over 37 million members.

From 2007 to 2010 Steve served as Chief Marketing Officer at Epsilon. And from 2000 to 2007 he was Managing Director and Head of Advertising and Brand Management at Citigroup Global Wealth Management. He also coordinated worldwide brand management for all of Citigroup’s businesses in more than 100 countries and encompassing 200 million customers.

Before joining Citigroup, Cone was president of Fidelity’s retail business and Fidelity’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Steve is one of the most respected figures in marketing today. Over his four decade career he created many of the airline, hotel, and retail loyalty programs millions worldwide participate in as well as major campaigns for Apple, American Express, Federal Express, and other global brands.

Known for innovative marketing across many industries, Cone has consulted with major membership and environmental groups such as The Nature Conservancy and The San Diego Zoo. He has also been tapped for marketing advice by presidential candidates from both parties and was part of a small team who raised the funds to build the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC.

Steve is the author of the popular marketing book Steal These Ideas. In two versions, 2005 and 2011, it has been translated into sixteen languages proving that good marketing ideas are universally popular. His third book, Powerlines, was published in May, 2008. In February 2009, Powerlines was cited as one of the three best marketing books of the year by the United States Independent Book Publishers Association.
