Zina Richardson serves as the University Director for Career Services and Professional Development within the Central Office of Student Affairs at the City University of New York (CUNY).
In her role, she recommends policy pertaining to employer/student recruitment while providing strategic leadership and intentional oversight for improvement of career readiness of current students as well as alumnae. Further, she provides guidance and feedback on best practices to the Career Services Association of CUNY, which is the University-wide association for recruitment, internship, and professional development programs.
Additionally, Zina collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, employers, industry professionals and alumni to ensure that students investigating their career paths have ongoing access to a broad range of career opportunities to help them plan for future success with a diverse array of global employers.
Her career at CUNY started with her serving as the Associate Director of Collaborative Programs at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, N.Y. In this capacity, she recruited and delivered successful and effective College Now programs to over 20,000 NYC high school students for more than 10 years.
In addition to cultivating a community-building culture throughout the Career Services departments, Zina’s strengths include career coaching, cross-sector partnerships, professional development counseling, and work-life balance methods. She executes her work with a clear focus on meeting the needs of the organization and ensuring that students receive rewarding, long-lasting opportunities particularly within their fields of study.
After earning a B.S. in Elementary Education from Old Westbury (SUNY), Ms. Richardson earned an M.S. Ed. in Counselor Education from Queens College (CUNY).
