Judge

Volunteer to judge the EDGE Marketing Challenge

At the end of each fall semester, Marketing EDGE holds a judging online for the EDGE Marketing Challenge. The judging takes place from late December towards mid-January for the student entries, to help Marketing EDGE and the Challenge sponsor evaluate the submissions and rank the winners.  Judges score and provide feedback on the entries; this information helps educators refine the way they teach data-driven marketing.

We expect a plethora of entries nationwide.  So we’ll need numerous judges to review all of the campaign submissions, since many schools enter multiple teams.

Being a judge is convenient! Judge the entries online from anywhere in the world that has internet.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where does judging take place?
Online, from the convenience of your home or office computer.
  • How many entries will I judge?
We seek to double the number of judges this year to reduce the “workload” of each judge.  You may judge about 5 entries (more or less, depending upon your willingness and availability) within a 2-3 week time frame. Judges should allow allow a minimum of 30 minutes to review an entry.  (The median time reported to review, score and comment on an entry is approximately 40 minutes, and the time shortens with experience.)
  • What is this year’s Challenge?
In brief, the Challenge is to create an integrated marketing campaign for Boxed to market its smart watches to affluent moms in 1 of 4 metro areas the student teams can choose among.
  • What exactly do I need to do?
    • Review the Judges’ Brief: (about 20 minutes): After you sign up, Marketing EDGE staff will send you a brief about the Challenge, criteria, and judging tips – which include a summary of the Challenge. (The full version of the Challenge is at www.CollegiateECHO.org.)  A staff member will answer any questions you may have.
    • Confirm your availability: We’ll check in with you before the judging begins to make sure you’re still available.
    • Judge: You’ll receive information about reviewing on our new Open Water platform.
    • Score and comment on our platform.

Your contribution of time and expertise is invaluable to the success of the competition, and is greatly appreciated by the Challenge sponsor, by Marketing EDGE, by the students’ faculty advisors, and by the students themselves – the marketers of tomorrow. We consider all judges’ applications for experience and expertise.

CLP Community Call | May 7

Jeanniey Mullen, Global Chief Marketing Officer | Transformational CMO of the Year and Marketing EDGE Board Member led an open discussion about “The Future of Marketing: The skills needed for tomorrow’s workforce and how Marketing EDGE is working as we prepare the next generation of talent”. Jeanniey led us through a fascinating presentation! “Our entire industry is going through a significant transformation, as is the entire world…there is a significant gap between the current and required skills supply. The solution in many cases is seriously and credibly looking at interns… who bring in skill sets, that no matter how great your teams are, they don’t have – as natively as millennials, or even GenZ – starting to enter the workforce.” Jeanniey Mullen.
