Global Marketing Lead, Uber Everything


Matt Smith is currently a global marketing lead on the Uber Everything team at Uber. In this role, he leads marketing for Uber’s delivery partner and restaurant audiences globally and oversees marketing for top priority enterprise partnerships. During his 16 months at the company, he has helped to launch and scale UberEATS from its first city to 70 cities in 24 countries across six continents.

Prior to Uber, Matt led marketing globally for Google My Business, managing overall strategy for brand, growth, product marketing and engagement. In this role, he executed the biggest business-to-business brand moment in Google’s history (The Story of Jacob & City Gym) which delivered more than 150 million social media impressions and significant international press coverage. He also supercharged global growth for the product, transitioning a product from flat year-over-year (YoY) growth to triple-digit YoY growth in two quarters.

Matt started his career working in consulting in New York where he advised Fortune 500 companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer on product launches, product positioning and pricing strategies.

He has a passion for social justice and advocacy work. He has spoken at Advertising Week about LGBT Voices in Advertising and has previously volunteered as a suicide prevention hotline counselor with The Trevor Project. His first internship was focused on development and fundraising for the Aidenica Home for Street Children in Lima, Peru. More recently, he’s spoken on marketing career development at numerous Marketing EDGE events. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University, where he graduated with Honors in History.
